The Water Cycle

Equipment: hot water, ice, a bowl, a cup, plastic wrap.

To make a water cycle we poured the hot water in the sides of the bowl. Then we put plastic wrap on top of the bowl in the middle of the bowl. Then we placed ice on top of the plastic wrap and watched the hot water evaporate. Then we saw it melting and when we took it off it had some water in it.

To make a water cycle we used a bowl and a cup. Then we put ice on top of the plastic wrap. We put the ice in the middle. Evaporation happened when the bubbles came up.

The Sunflower that went Flop

We are learning to write narrative stories. Mrs. Blair read the story of The Sunflower that went Flop by Joy Cowley and we have written our own stories about it.

One sunny afternoon Mrs. Brown planted a straight big beautiful sunflower in her front garden so people could see the sunflower. People going past said “What a beautiful flower” and Mrs. Brown said “Thank you kind people” She said this proudly. And they looked again and it was very tall. The next morning the sunflower went flop in the front garden. The people said “What a shame.” And Mrs. Brown said “ Oh my sunflower!” She called to Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown said “What is it my love?” She said, “My sunflower went flop.” Mr. Brown got his fixing bag. He got his sticky tape and stuck it on the sunflower. Mrs. Brown said, “Thank you, you’re the fixing man in the world.” And he said, “Don’t tease, my love.” When it was nighttime it rained and the sunflower drank and drank. And it drank some more and much more. The next morning the sunflower grew very straight again.

One sunny morning Mrs. Brown was growing the sunflower. The flower was beautiful. The next day the flower went flop. Mrs. Brown asked Mr. Brown to fix it. He used a hammer and nails and a needle and string and sticky tape. Then the rain came down and then the flower was straight and still.

Grandparents and Special Person's Day

Last Friday was Grandparents Day. My Nana came to school. She told me a story. I shared writing. I went to the hall to do some folk dancing. I liked the rabbit dance. I had so much fun. I shared lunch.

Last Friday was Grandparent’s day. My Grandma came to Room 6. I showed my Grandma the blocks. I went to the hall to do folk dancing. I liked the chicken dance with my Grandma.

Last Friday it was Grandparent’s Day and everyone was showing grandparents my things. I showed my handwriting book and writing book. We went to the hall to do folk dancing. I liked the bunny dance. I shared lunch with my Grandad. I had sushi and my Grandad had sushi too.

Last Friday it was Grandparents Day. I invited my uncle. It was lots of fun having him in Room 6. I showed him my writing and my poem and my handwriting book. We went to the hall to do folk dancing. My favourite dance was the bird dance because I got to dance with my uncle. Before he left we had a shared lunch together.
